Saturday, October 26, 2024

Thank you for your interest in the 2024 Homecoming Alumni Band. We are so excited to welcome you back to campus and join us in celebrating the rich history of the Bulldog Marching Band. Please be sure to familiarize yourself with the full-day itinerary at the bottom of this page where you can also save a mobile-friendly image.

The closest parking lot to the music building is P1 Other nearby lots include P4, P30, and P31. As of the fall 2024 semester, P27 (dorms) is restricted to University Housing residents only, even on game days. You can view an interactive campus map here. You do not need a parking pass. However, if there is a parking attendant at the time you are entering the lot, just inform them that you are with the marching band and they should let you through.

When you arrive, you will be required to check in where you will be asked to make a name tag, receive a t-shirt if you paid for one, and be given instructions for checking out an instrument if you paid for a rental. Additional t-shirts will be available in a limited quantity while supplies last.

If you reserved and prepaid for a rental instrument, you will be assigned an instrument and serial number when you check in, at which time the instrument will be supplied to you. Unlike past years, you will not need to interact with the department rental shop. You will be assuming full responsibility for the instrument and any additional components included with it including a case, carrier, or stand. Rental instruments must be returned to the designated volunteer in the music building no later than an hour after the conclusion of the football game. Failure to return the instrument assigned to you will result in a monetary fine up to the value of the instrument.

Individuals registered as color guard will be assigned a numbered flag with silk when you check-in. You will be assuming full responsibility for the equipment. Equipment must be returned to the designated volunteer in the music building no later than an hour after the conclusion of the football game. Failure to return the equipment assigned to you will result in a monetary fine up to the value of the equipment.

The halftime show music is Defying Gravity from Wicked. This selection is a nod to the upcoming film adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical, and a homage to the 2015 Bulldog Marching Band show of the same name.

Stands tunes selections from the provided music may include the following:

  • Power (In The Stands)
  • Applause (We have 2 Shorties , Beginning to A and D to the end)
  • Crazy In Love (Shorty is 7 to the End, sometimes we play the whole tune)
  • Earfquake (Shorty starts at 8 with a snare pickup, winds come in pick ups to 9)
  • Talkin' Out The Side of Your Neck
  • Talk To Me, Dance With Me
  • Bang Bang
  • Word up
  • Y.M.C.A
  • Hey Baby
  • Bulldog Boogie
  • Jai Ho
  • Hey Pachuco
  • TouchDown Sequence
  • Sell Out

These are the selections that are called up most frequently per the BMB librarian, however, any tune may be called at any time.

Recording of Defying Gravity

Color guard choreography is available here. The recording is missing the first 16 counts, but this will be taught during morning rehearsal the day of homecoming. We apologize for the inconvenience.

We are excited to share that we will have a Bulldog Marching Band History Showcase! We invite all alumni to bring memorabilia and photos from their time in the Bulldog Marching Band to display from the beginning of rehearsal through the lunch break. Tables will be placed out in advance with labels for the different decades represented in this year’s Homecoming Alumni Band. We highly encourage you to bring whatever you would like to share. Please be sure to have a way of knowing what is yours.

The band room is the best place to leave instrument cases during on-field rehearsal and the football game. Please keep cases in the band room or somewhere else you feel comfortable. If you must bring a case to the stadium, you will keep it underneath the bleachers where you sit. Cases will not be allowed to be stored anywhere else at the stadium other than where you are sitting. If you require assistance transporting a larger instrument, please let us know in advance.

Personal instruments, rented instruments issued to you, and any applicable components are your responsibility. The Band Alumni Club, Bulldog Marching Band, and Fresno State are not responsible for lost or stolen instruments under any circumstances.

The Band Alumni Club will be providing a light breakfast served prior to rehearsal. The Friends of the Bulldog Marching Band will be providing lunch for the entire Bulldog Marching Band and Homecoming Alumni Band. This meal will be served at 1:00pm with alumni being served after BMB members. You are highly encouraged to take part in this free meal and mingle with current BMB members! Additionally, Friends of the Bulldog Marching Band will be providing disposable cups for water and snack bags in the stands after halftime.

Lunch will be Mexican rice, beans, and chicken enchilada casserole. If you plan to partake in this meal and have any allergies or dietary restrictions, please contact us at: fsbandalumniclub@gmail.com by 10/21 so that we can inform FoBMB in a timely manner.

If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, please contact us at: fsbandalumniclub@gmail.com

The Bulldog Marching Band will be stepping off at 3pm, if you wish to march over with them, call time for alumni is 2:45pm at the music building. Winds and color guard will form a mini block behind the BMB, and drums will march with their section in the BMB block if they will be playing.

If you do not wish to march over, but plan to join us for tailgate performances, call time is 3:20 in the Blue Lot. A map is available below.

If you do not wish to march over or tailgate, call time is 4:30 in the stands to watch the BMB perform pregame. Seating explained below.

If you are not marching to the stadium with the BMB, but plan to tailgate, we will be meeting in the west end of the blue lot near the ticket booths. This is also where the BMB takes a water break after they march over. If you are not tailgating and will be meeting us in the stadium, please enter on the south side of the stadium.  If entering from Bulldog Lane/Blue Lot, you will go between the red wall and the locker rooms and hang a left. If coming from Cedar/Red Lot, you will make your way through “Bulldog Boulevard”. A map is available here.

We will play tunes with the BMB that are called up.

Alumni color guard may sit with the BMB color guard if space allows, or with alumni winds if needed. Alumni winds will be behind the podium, but in front of the BMB piccolo section. Alumni tubas and drums will be with their sections in the BMB.

Please be attentive and adaptive for instructions on how to get to and from the field at the football game.

After halftime, alumni are welcome to return to the stands to continue playing with the BMB, or may leave for the evening. The band room will be opened after halftime and the game will be screened on the projector for those who want to hang around, but not be in the stadium.

Rental instrument return will begin in the band room after halftime and will end 1 hour after the conclusion of the football game or whenever the last rental instrument is returned. No exceptions. Any other personal belongings must also be collected in this time frame.

There will be a post-game social (no meal provided) with the Bulldog Marching Band at La Pizza Nostra (formerly Double Play). This will also serve as the kickoff of the BMB having a post-game hangout spot for the first time since before the pandemic. Your support ensures the success of this new relationship.

Address: 2794 Willow Ave #109, Clovis, CA 93612
