Short Term Goals
- Enhance the homecoming experience for BMB alumni. We plan to start registration early, communicate information promptly, and add components that will allow for more time with other alumni as well as with the current BMB membership.
- Create more touchpoints between current BMB membership and alumni through year round engagement opportunities. Awareness that our club exists will begin as early as the BMB preseason camp where officers have been invited to introduce themselves to membership and share the vision for the future of the club.
- Raise money through strategic fundraising to benefit scholarships and special projects. As we learn more about scholarships we can benefit, we will be seeking ways to fund those on a regular basis. Additionally, when necessary, we will work with the BMB on crowdfunding for special projects.
Long Term Goals
Some of the long term goals – which are nothing more than thoughts on a paper at this point – include a charity golf tournament, quarterly alumni speaking engagements, bi-annual mixers, and much more.
Some of the special project ideas that have been shared with us are a new (permanent) tower at the rehearsal field as well as a 53’ semi trailer for the Bulldog Marching Band and Red Wave Indoor. Additionally, travel opportunities with the BMB are actively being explored.

Join our mailing list or update your information
Note: Past participation in the homecoming alumni band does not mean you are automatically on this mailing list. We will be abiding by the communications guidelines of the Fresno State Alumni Association which manages these contacts and sends the messages on our behalf. They will update your information accordingly as you fill out the forms. You will receive all major emails to the group such as this one, but you will also only receive email communications for activities you sign up to be a part of.
For example: To receive any news, updates or information about Homecoming 2024, you must join our mailing list and register to participate. An event registration link for Homecoming 2024 will be sent out to everyone on the mailing list. Additionally, the current leadership will no longer be using the Fresno State Alumni Band Facebook Group as an official means of communication and will not be actively recruiting alumni to that group. All pertinent and relevant information will come via email directly to you. We will occasionally share information in this group until homecoming this year has concluded to help with the transition. This decision was made to support the most common communications solution amongst all alumni as email.
We recognize the importance of social media and its ability to mass communicate information
beyond the scope of our immediate audience. That is why we have launched Fresno State
Band Alumni Club Facebook and Instagram accounts that you can follow where we will
share information relevant to all audiences for us to share and promote!
The first thing that we hope you will join us in promoting is a Panda Express profit share fundraiser! Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. We hope you will join us in the advancement of the athletic bands at Fresno State. We will be in communication with you about events, volunteer opportunities, and much more. We also value the collective knowledge and experience of our entire alumni network and plan to host opportunities where we can come together as a larger group to generate ideas on how we can fulfill the mission of our club. As we begin to expand on what this club can do and build our network of dedicated alumni, we hope that future generations of leaders have an already well-oiled machine that can continue a culture of support for the band, and that we can make great use of our professional and social relationships to gain support from those outside of the Bulldog Marching Band alumni circle.
Sincere regards,
Michael Wootten
